Bevis came to us all the way from North Carolina. The shelter could not adopt him out because of his handicaps and could not determine the reason for them.

When Bevis came to us, he was unable to use his back legs, has urinary and bowel incontinence, and periodically builds up blood in the bladder. When it gets to a certain point, he pees nothing but blood. A treatment of antibiotics and prednisone clears it up until the next event!

After several X-rays it turns out his insides are twisted! His bladder is in the wrong place and is pushing up against his spine, pinching the nerves to his legs. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything that can be done since it is a birth defect.

Bevis is not in pain. We just have to do things a little bit different. But most importantly, he’s happy!
