The last Monday in May is Memorial Day in the States. This is a day for remembering and honoring those who have given their lives in the line of duty for the United States military. This day of remembrance started after the American Civil War as a way to honor the many soldiers who fell in battle on both sides. It has since been amended to include all soldiers who have given their lives, no matter the conflict.
