You may not be aware of this, but the third Friday in May is Endangered Species Day. It’s a day to celebrate the diversity in life that our planet supports and a day to learn about what we can do to preserve and nurture it.
Dogs and cats and horses are so prevalent and we, as humans, take such a great interest in them that they are under no threat of becoming extinct. But there are a great many other species that are facing that danger. As animal lovers, we should at least be aware of what’s at stake when our planet faces changes in its ecosystems due to animal extinctions.
No one wants to see an entire species of animal die out, and especially not due to our own actions, so let’s all make an effort to learn something new this Friday and celebrate the diversity of our world.
